I found a recipe for this in strawberry, and decided I would ignore that part. It's pretty simple, although still a bit time consuming, took about 50 minute total from prep to end, but my homemade jam is absolutely awesome. Unfortunately, it's for instant consumption. Don't make a PB&J to send with your kid to school, because jello melts. And it's no good for baking, unless you use it as a glaze (on ham).
Emmet Cullen Jam (inside joke-lifeofrinn.blogspot.com for details.)
One bosc pear, deseeded, and diced (I left the skin on, but you cam make your own decisions)
One bunch of red grapes, deseeded and quartered
Blueberries
1 package of apricot jello
Basic recipe:
You need:
A big pot, this is a messy task and needs stirring room
3 cups of sugar
4 cups of fruit
1 package of jello, any flavor
Mix sugar and fruit in big pot. Heat on low-medium until sugar is COMPLETELY dissolved. Turn heat up to medium, and boil 10-20 minutes, depending on type of fruit. You want it to reduce about 1/4.
Remove from heat. Stir in jello packet until completely dissolved. Allow to cool, and then pour into jars.
This makes almost 32 fl. oz of preserves! Make sure you have enough jars. Can be frozen. Refrigerate.
