This one is for the cheaters. I'm sure you can make a lovely, homemade version, but really, who are we kidding here. The majority of us still use the mix.
3 pkgs no marshmellow and none of those foofy flavors straight up chocolate cocoa mix.
Mix with approximately one shot of Jack or Captain (enough to make a thick syrup)
1/8 tsp cayenne
Add hot water and enjoy!
